EVENT REGISTRATION

At a festival, teams are interviewed by volunteer reviewers to learn about their Team, LEGO Model and Team Poster, They also participate in STEM-related activities. All teams are celebrated and leave with an award.

Teams accepting grants from FIRST in Michigan, the MDE FIRST 99h grant, or sponsor-specific grants are required to participate in one official FIRST in Michigan festival during the season.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Event registration key points (Read this first!)
  • To attend an event, teams must be:
    • Aligned to the FIRST in Michigan progression of programs (comprised solely of Michigan early elementary grade team members (K-3).)
    • Fully registered for the current FIRST LEGO League Explore season
  • Each team must have a Lead Coach/Mentor 1 and 2, who each must have cleared the FIRST Youth Protection screening process before the event.
  • FIRST LEGO League Explore Official Festival event registration is done at the local level with FIRST in Michigan through a Google form, and NOT through the FIRST Dashboard. Teams will NOT see their confirmed events on their Team Dashboard, only on the Michigan FLL Explore Team List.
  • The Google form is required to register for an event; no email requests are accepted.
  • Festival hosts will email coaches with event specific information (payment method, directions/parking, etc.) approximately two weeks prior to the event.

    • Monday, October 6, 2025, at noon EST – Event registration opens
    • Sunday, October 12 – Event registration closes
    • Wednesday, October 22 – Event assignments posted to team list
    • October 13-TBD – Late registration available for any open spots left on a first-come-first-served basis
    • 2 weeks before event – Tournament Directors email coaches with event specific information: payment method, directions/parking, etc.
    • November 8 through February – Fall/winter festivals
    • Early March – Spring event registration open
    • April through May – Spring festivals
    Event fee
    The event fee for Michigan FIRST LEGO League Explore festivals is $50 and is paid directly to the event host. It is not paid by any grants, nor was it included in anything paid previously by teams.

    • 2026 Spring EVENT REGISTRATION FORM
      • The spring event registration form is open for any registered Michigan team who has not yet participated for the UNEARTHED 2025-2026 season.
      • Additional events may be added after registration is open. If you wish to change your registration choices due to this, please submit a new form and it will replace your previous list of choices.
    • The team number, coach’s name, and coach’s email address, will be necessary to complete the Michigan FIRST LEGO League Explore Event Application. This information must match the information on the team’s FIRST account. If a team’s information doesn’t match, the number is incorrect, or the application is incomplete, the team’s registration will be put on hold until it is resolved.
    • Teams must have two screened coaches at the time of registration to apply for Official Festival Events.
    • Please apply within the event registration period to improve your chance of getting your preferred event.
