If you are an underserved school: Apply for the LEGO Foundation Grant.
Open for 2024-25!
- The LEGO Foundation is offering grants to cover the FULL COST of participating in our FIRST LEGO League Discover (FLLD) programs for the 2024-25 school year. Schools may apply for multiple grants. The FLL-Discover grant serves 8 students and includes:
- Themed LEGO kits
- Curriculum
- Small packs for each student to take home at night
- Please note the following requirements that accompany the grant:
- The school serves primarily underrepresented and underserved students
- Participating schools will be required to provide demographics, participation numbers, and year-end report
- Agree to participate for the entire Discover program and host a Celebration event at the end of the program, and we agree to sustain the class pack for at least one season beyond the 2024-25 grant year.
- Sign a Memorandum of Understanding agreeing to the requirements of the grant and expected use of the products as outlined above.

TIPS for the application:
- Input your free/reduced lunch percentage. To find your school’s percentage and/or Title 1 status: https://nces.ed.gov/globallocator/. If you are a non-public school, use your nearest area school percentage as applicable.
- Where possible, include your team’s/school’s/city’s unique challenges and include any demographics (underserved populations) that would assist in establishing need.
- After submitting the LEGO Foundation grant, do not pay for anything in the Storefront until you receive a grant award decision from (please add heidi@firstinmichigan.org FIRST in Michigan.

Create or Log in to your FIRST Account
If you do not qualify for the LEGO Foundation grant (please reach out to heidi@firstinmichigan.org if you are unsure). Your account gives you access to the FIRST Dashboard, where you can create your PreK/DevK Discover Class Pack Account
(***Please note that FIRST in Michigan operates a progression of programs which differs from FIRST national. Our model enables students to build upon the skills and experiences attained at one level then flow naturally to the next level without overlap. In Michigan, Discover (FLLD) is the sole program for PreK/DevK students with teams comprised of only preschool and Developmental Kindergarten students).
- You can log in to your account anytime using the top navigation on www.firstinspires.org,
- Registration instructions for Rookie Teams (link); follow the steps in this linked document (includes screenshots) to start the registration process for your new class pack.
- If you don’t have a class pack name yet, just put “TBD” for the class pack name at this point. The field can be updated at a later time.
- Stop when you reach the Storefront portion for now.
- When you complete this step, you will be assigned your permanent class pack number!
- For class packs, you will need one account for each building and you will order your class packs for the building from that account. Each class pack that you order is considered a team and each team number will be the account number with a dash followed by a number.
- Order your class packs. You will need one class pack for every 8 students.
- For your end of year celebration to be considered a competition, you must have at least TWO class packs participating.
