Honesty:

• Honesty and integrity are some of the hallmarks of FIRST teams.  Hold yourself and your team to high standards of honesty and integrity. In the immortal words of Dr. Woodie Flowers, “It’s Good Stuff!”.
• Learn and fairly apply the rules of the game.
  • Use the FIRST FTC HQ provided resources where you have questions or need clarification.
  • Email FIRST in Michigan FTC if more information is needed.
• In match play:
  • A team participating in a given remote event must designate a match as “official” BEFORE the match begins and follow through with scoring/uploading that match’s result regardless of the match outcome (i.e. if the robot malfunctions).
    • It is not “fair play” for a team to run multiple matches and just score/upload the six best ones as official matches for an event.

Transparency:

• Be open and transparent about what your team does and accomplishes this season. Show the world that you have nothing to hide and that you are proud of your accomplishments!
• Share what your team has been doing – where you’ve struggled and where you’ve succeeded. This sharing can be verbal, with pictures, or with videos. Some suggestions are given below.

As a team, take and live the Fair Play pledge:

• As a FIRST Tech Challenge Team, we hold to the FIRST Core Values.
• We believe that the spirit of Gracious Professionalism guides us to behave honestly and with integrity as we participate in FIRST.
• We recognize that the learning we accomplish is the primary reward for our participation in FIRST Tech Challenge.
• We will hold ourselves and each member of our team accountable.
• We will be a positive role model for what it means to be a FIRST team!

If your team is willing to abide by the tenets of Fair Play, please have one of the two primary coaches fill out the Google Form linked below attesting to your team’s participation and agreement with this Fair Play effort.

Upon receipt of your form entry, FIRST in Michigan FTC will:

• List your team in a “Fair Play Teams” listing on the FIRST in Michigan website.
• Provide your team a “Fair Play” digital badge that can be displayed on your team’s website and other digital media outlets, printed and affixed to your team’s robot, included in your team’s Engineering Notebook/Portfolio.

• Post pictures and comments about your robot or a feature of your robot on your team’s social media outlets or website. Tag the FIRST in Michigan Facebook page.
• Post a tagged walk-around video of your robot. Describe it and its functionality. Think of it as a self-inspection (could even follow the inspection checklists).
• Post a tagged video of one or more of your team’s scored matches either practice or as part of a remote event.
  • For reasons of youth safety, all minors in posted pictures/video must have a signed FIRST and FIRST in Michigan Consent/Release form on file for the 2020-21 season. Please do not include student names in any shared content.
• Create a playlist or channel for the videos and share widely.
• Encourage the teams in your communities to do the same kind of sharing!

• Practice recording matches.
• Practice uploading to your sharing service.
• Make sure your links are accessible to those outside of your organization.
• View the videos after uploading – make sure the quality is reasonable.
• Pick a viewpoint/angle that closely matches a human viewpoint.
• Start the recording BEFORE the randomization for the match.
• If possible, have the camera include date/time information in the video.
• If music is used in the video, the team must have rights to the music.

• Post to searchable video service.
  • Create a playlist.
  • Share your videos using the above linked Google form and it may be highlighted by FIRST in Michigan or FIRST HQ.
