99h State Grant Update, Grant closes at 12pm noon on Feb. 9th
99h State Grant Closes Feb. 9 at 12pm (noon).
The 99h state grant is administered by the MI Dept. of Education (MDE) through their NexSys grant system. A school’s/district’s Level 5 (usually someone in Finance/Supt. office) applies for this grant on behalf of all the teams in their school/district.
LIMITED ACCESS TO APPLICATION INFO
FIM will not have access to interim reports this season to check 99h application information. But we did receive a simple “snapshot” list of each district that has submitted, modified, or started their application as of 2/2/26. We do not anticipate receiving any updates. See below.
HOW TO CHECK 99h APPLICATION STATUS AND VERIFY INFORMATION:
-
Check the snapshot list linked below to see if your district has submitted, modified, or started their application.
-
If the district has started/submitted the application, ask your Level 5 to print out a copy for you to check to ensure that your team and all the teams in the district are listed.
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW GET A PRINTOUT OF WHAT INFO TO DATE IS ON YOUR 99h APPLICATION (Level 5 must pull this report)
-
Compare it to the list of all your FIRST teams that should be on your application to see if any teams are missing:

-
If your application needs to be modified to change or add info.
Contact mde-edtech@michigan.org to open your application for modifications. This creates a record. Once open, make your changes and change the status to “modifications submitted” before the deadline.
-
If your district is NOT on the list OR shows “in progress”, work with your Level 5 or Superintendent to make sure they know the GRANT DEADLINE IS NOON ON MONDAY.

FOR NON-PUBLIC SCHOOLS ONLY: SIGMA MAIL CODE ISSUE
The MDE found a technical issue within the application involving the Sigma Mail Code field on the Entity Type page. If you find that you are or were unable to enter your full Mail Code, please follow the 99h Sigma Mail Code Guidance available on the Robotics Competition Grant webpage.
If you need assistance determining your Sigma vendor and mail code, please follow the Locating Your SIGMA Vendor Code and Address ID instructions available on the Robotics Competition Grant webpage. Reach out to MDE-EdTech@Michigan.gov. if further assistance is needed.
KEY REMINDERS FOR ALL
-
The grant DEADLINE IS NEXT MONDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2026 at NOON. No exceptions.
-
Once grant information is verified, Level 5s should ensure that the grant status on NexSys is marked as “SUBMITTED”. On the NexSys system, open tasks will be listed under “My Tasks”. Look for anything referring to “99h”. Once resolved, the task will no longer appear there.
-
If a modification is needed and the deadline is looming, email the MDE before the grant closes outlining the issue. Please provide district/school name and a brief description of the issue, along with contact information. This creates a record.
-
MDE resources related to the application are available on the Robotics Competition Grant webpage.
