FTC SPRING EVENTS
The list of FTC spring events can be found on the FIRST in Michigan website. From the landing page, click on EVENTS on the top menu bar. Direct link: https://firstinmichigan. us/FTC/events/.
May 10-11, 2019
- Alcona – 12 teams
- Traverse City – 36 teams
- Vassar – 24 teams
May 17-18, 2019
- Hamtramck – 32 teams
- Gull Lake – 24 teams
- Troy – 32 teams [ON HOLD]
The May 17-18 Troy FTC event is on hold as there is an issue with the venue availability. The Alcona, Traverse City, and Hamtramck events will need to accommodate the teams that still need to compete for the first time this year. That will not leave many spots for teams wishing to compete again this season. If your site can host the weekend of May 17-18, email michiganftc@gmail.com. SPRING EVENT REGISTRATION

This form will open for submissions at 7:00am on Friday, March 29, 2019.
These events are listed as scrimmages on the FIRST FTC national site but they will operate as a regular season events (without an advancement component though) with judging, match play, elimination rounds, awards.
Event assignment order protocol:
1) Teams that are directly affiliated with the host organization.
2) Teams that did not compete in the FIRST in Michigan FTC fall season that still need to compete in order to satisfy grant requirements.
3) Teams that have repopulated for the 2nd semester i.e. classroom-based teams.
4) Remaining spots are open to teams that competed in the regular season that would like to compete again.
Entries are date/time stamped and each order of assignment category will additionally use these attributes as a factor. Teams must be officially registered for the 2018-2019 season with FIRST FTC national and be comprised solely of MI middle school aged team members OR team members who will be middle school aged in the 2019-2020 season (matriculating FLL to FTC). Participation in a spring event is optional for teams that have already competed in the 2018-2019 regular season. The spring events will play the ROVER RUCKUS game.
MUNISING SCRIMMAGE
There will be a FTC scrimmage in Munising on May 11th. Event information can be found on this google doc: 2019 Munising FTC Scrimmage, Please email electrostangs@gmail.com directly with questions.
ROSTERS & CONSENT/RELEASE FORMS
Rosters:
Teams must provide a team roster at the door of the event where they will be competing. See the specific event’s page on the FIRST in Michigan FTC website for a list of what to bring to an event.
The FIRST team registration system will rollover for the 2019-2020 season at the end of April. Teams competing at spring events that intend to use the Team Dashboard produced roster will need to download their roster before May 1st. This rollover will not impact teams using the coach produced roster option. See templates: Roster template (excel). Roster Template (pdf).
Consent/Release Forms:
Required at each event where a team member/coach/mentor is participating. Two versions for each person must be turned in at event check-in.
- FIRST HQ Consent and Release Form
- Electronically signed through the individual’s FIRST Account. Team must be using the “Team Dashboard produced roster” as it indicates that the electronically signed form is on file with FIRST HQ.
- OR a signed paper version.

NSBE FIRST LEGO LEAGUE EVENT
The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is hosting a FLL event at Cobo Center, Detroit this Friday, March 27th. They are still looking for adult volunteers to serve as referees/judges. If you’re interested, please reach out directly to David Varnado dvarnado@nsbe.org.
FIRST IN MICHIGAN FRC EVENTS
Visit a high school FRC event with your team and show them what awaits them at the next level! List of FRC events: http:// firstinmichigan.us/FRC/events/ . The FIRST in Michigan FRC State Championship will be held at Saginaw Valley State University on April 10-13.
Judging at an FRC event is a great way to see the impact of the program up close and personal. Judges must be at least 25 years of age and cannot be affiliated with a team as an active mentor or be a parent of a current FRC team member. Judging is a two day commitment, both Friday and Saturday of the event. Volunteer registration is through the FIRST volunteer system accessible via your FIRST Account. FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP-DETROIT
FIRST Championship-Detroit is quickly approaching! Visit the FIRST microsite for the event for details on how to be a part of this amazing event: https://www. firstchampionship.org/detroit. The event is free and open to the general public. FIRST requires all attendees to register and wear a badge. Registration can done in advance of the event with badge pickup onsite.
