Proceed to Step 3.<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The FIRST HQ FTC Hardship Grant is a needs-based grant administered by FIRST HQ, with teams nominated for consideration by FIRST in Michigan FTC.<\/p>\n<p>In Michigan, newly forming (rookie), school-affiliated middle school FTC teams will be prioritized for nomination.<\/p>\n<p>If awarded, this grant will work with the FIRST in Michigan FTC Rookie Team Grant towards a new team&#8217;s season registration and select products in the FTC Storefront. <strong>Do not pay for anything<\/strong> in the FTC Storefront until the process is completed.<\/p>\n<div class='shortcode-toggle'><div class='shortcode-toggle-head'><i class=\"fa fa-plus\"><\/i>Steps for the Nomination Process<\/div><div class='shortcode-toggle-box hide'><ol>\n<li>Email <a href=\"mailto:tammy@firstinmichigan.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tammy@firstinmichigan.org<\/a> to be included in the next nomination round.<\/li>\n<li>Include a brief overview of why your team should be nominated for this grant. See the consideration points listed below. Include any others that are pertinent to your team.<br \/>\nConsideration points include, but are not limited to:<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0 Title I status<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0 Economically disadvantaged percentage<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0 Locale<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0 Team composition<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0 Team sustainability plan<\/li>\n<li>Complete the following team tasks; must be done before the team can be nominated:\n<ul>\n<li>Team must have a Lead Coach 1 and Lead Coach 2 listed on the Team Dashboard.<\/li>\n<li>Both Coaches must complete their FIRST Account tasks:\n<ul>\n<li>Electronically sign the FIRST HQ Consent\/Release Form.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstinspires.org\/sites\/default\/files\/uploads\/about\/us-screening-steps.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FIRST Youth Protection background screening<\/a>. The FiM FTC Rookie Team Grant works with the HQ grant to cover a new team&#8217;s 2025-26 season registration fee of $325 and reusable robot kit of parts.<\/p>\n<div class='shortcode-toggle'><div class='shortcode-toggle-head'><i class=\"fa fa-plus\"><\/i>Grant eligibility and criteria<\/div><div class='shortcode-toggle-box hide'><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Newly forming (rookie) teams affiliated with a school are eligible for this grant.<\/li>\n<li>Rookie teams should first complete the &#8220;Nomination Process&#8221; tasks in STEP 2 for the HQ FTC Hardship Grant.<\/li>\n<li>All veterans out of the same school who were past grant recipients must be registered for the current season.<\/li>\n<li>Grant funds cannot be paid out to an individual, only to the team\u2019s fiscal partner.<\/li>\n<li>For a rookie team forming out of a school that is new to FTC, the FIM FTC Rookie Team Grant will cover one partial set of the season&#8217;s game elements (value est. $315). This order will be placed after FIRST HQ reveals the new game in early Sept. If more than one new team forms out of a school new to FTC, the expectation is that the partial set of game elements is to be shared among the teams.<\/li>\n<li>FiM FTC has a partnership with Google.org which provides additional support for new school-based middle school FTC teams that meet Google.org&#8217;s grant criteria. Criteria considered: percentage of economically disadvantaged\u00a0youth, percentage of underserved\/underrepresented youth, locale. school is new to FTC. If awarded, wait until the HQ grant funds appear on the team&#8217;s FTC Storefront before making any purchases.<\/li>\n<li>A check will be remitted to the team&#8217;s fiscal partner covering the qualified out-of-pocket costs incurred for the payment of the team\u2019s FIRST FTC season registration fee and initial kit of parts purchase made through the FTC Storefront.<\/li>\n<li>The team\u2019s FTC Storefront (Pitsco) proof of purchase must be uploaded as part of the application process. If parts were purchased by P.O., proof of payment of the P.O. must be uploaded as part of the application process as well.<\/li>\n<li>Sales tax will not be reimbursed. Schools\/501c3 organizations must have their sales tax exemption form already uploaded before purchasing parts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>KEY TO KNOW BEFORE MAKING THE BUILD KIT PURCHASE\u00a0is that FiM cannot issue a reimbursement check to an individual.<\/b>\u00a0The team&#8217;s fiscal partner (i.e. affiliated school or 501c3 entity) should make the purchase on behalf of the team. Then, fill out the FiM FTC Rookie Team Grant-reimbursement version.
