They also design, build, and program a robot to accomplish missions on a yearly themed playing field. The theme changes each year, but the FLL <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1SsUYvhFTDGE7lB0M0NPVEWts5Pn6rZEf\/view?usp=sharing\">Core Values<\/a> that teams learn do not. Enter judge rubric scores into judging software, help prepare scripts and slideshows, and organize rubric sheets.<\/li><li>Ages 17+, older high school students welcome<\/li><\/ul><\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Robot Game Queuer<\/strong><ul><li>Manage team traffic to and from the playing field.<\/li><li>Ages 17+, older high school students welcome<\/li><li>Great role for attending teams&#8217; parents or mentors<\/li><\/ul><\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Judging Queuer<\/strong><ul><li>Manage team traffic to and from the judging areas.<\/li><li>Ages 17+, older high school students welcome<\/li><\/ul><\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Field Resetter<\/strong><ul><li>Repair and reset the playing fields after each match.<\/li><li>FTC or high school students welcome<\/li><\/ul><\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Pit Runner<\/strong><ul><li>Serve as team messenger \u2014 providing and distributing critical information to teams. <\/li><li>FTC or high school students welcome<\/li><\/ul><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nAnd roles available at some events depending on size or other factors:\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Technical Staff<\/li>\r\n<li>Volunteer Room Assistant<\/li>\r\n<li>Concessions<\/li>\r\n<li>Event Photographer<\/li>\r\n<li>Emcee<\/li>\r\n<li>Floater<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><\/div><\/div>\r\n<div class='shortcode-toggle'><div class='shortcode-toggle-head'><i class=\"fa fa-plus\"><\/i>Register to Volunteer at an Event<\/div><div class='shortcode-toggle-box hide'><\/p>\r\nFollow these steps to register to volunteer at an event:\r\n<ol><li>Log in or create an account in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstinspires.org\">FIRST Dashboard<\/a> &#8211; sign up is located in the top right corner of the page.  (See the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstinspires.org\/sites\/default\/files\/uploads\/resource_library\/volunteer\/volunteer-registration-user-guide.pdf\">Volunteer Registration User Guide<\/a> if you need more detailed directions.)<\/li><li>\r\nClick the Volunteer Registration tab &#038; choose \u2018Volunteer at an Event\u2019.<\/li><li>\r\nIn &#8216;Filter Events&#8217;, choose FIRST LEGO League Challenge as the program and Michigan as the state and select an event.<\/li><li>\r\nChoose up to five roles and apply.<\/li><li>\r\nComplete your required <a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstinspires.org\/resource-library\/youth-protection-policy\">Youth Protection program (YPP)<\/a> background screening. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstinspires.org\/sites\/default\/files\/uploads\/resource_library\/volunteer\/volunteer-screening-guide.pdf\">Step by Step Guide<\/a>)<\/li><\/ol>\r\nYou will receive an email from your tournament director or volunteer coordinator once you are assigned to a volunteer role.<br><br>\r\nIf you are under 18 and registering to volunteer, see the directions under Step 2 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstinspires.org\/resource-library\/volunteer\/event-volunteer-checklist\">here<\/a>.\r\n\r\n<p><\/div><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class='shortcode-toggle'><div class='shortcode-toggle-head'><i class=\"fa fa-plus\"><\/i>Event Volunteer Training Materials<\/div><div class='shortcode-toggle-box hide'><\/p>\r\n<p>All event volunteer roles have access to <i>FIRST<\/i> Training upon application. You will see a blue \u201c<i>FIRST<\/i> Training\u201d button in the \u201cVolunteer Registration\u201d tab of the <i>FIRST<\/i> Dashboard. Clicking this button will grant you access to the <i>FIRST<\/i> Training platform.\r\n\r\n<\/p> <\/br><p>Training and certification requirements vary by role. If your role requires online training, you will be automatically enrolled into the training upon application or assignment into the role. A \u201cRoles Missing Certification\u201d section will appear on your Volunteer Dashboard. Click on \u201cReview Outstanding Tasks,\u201d then click the \u201cResolve\u201d button. This will take you directly to the training site. <\/p>\r\n<\/br>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><\/div><\/div>\r\n<div class='shortcode-toggle'><div class='shortcode-toggle-head'><i class=\"fa fa-plus\"><\/i>What to Expect at Your Event<\/div><div class='shortcode-toggle-box hide'><\/p>\r\nSchedule<ul><li>Your event director or volunteer coordinator will let you know what time to arrive. Most FLL event volunteer arrivals times are around 7-8 AM, though specific events vary based on event size and location.<\/li><\/ul>\r\nVolunteer Lounge with Food<ul><li>Generally, at a full-day FIRST event, a volunteer lounge with food and refreshments away from the crowd will be supplied to show our appreciation for your time and to help re-energize you. At an FLL Challenge event, you will usually be provided breakfast and lunch.<\/li><\/ul>  \r\nVolunteer T-Shirt\/ Name Badge<ul><li>Depending on the event, you may be given a T-shirt and\/or name badge. These appoint you as a FIRST volunteer for the event. These items will grant you access to the areas you will need to access to complete your volunteer role and are also your ticket to the volunteer lounge for food and refreshments throughout the day if a volunteer lounge is provided.<\/li><\/ul> \r\n\r\n<p><\/div><\/div>\r\n<hr>\r\n\r\n<h5 id=\"learn-about-fll\"><strong>Role Specific: Judge Resources<\/strong><\/h5>\r\n<div class='shortcode-toggle'><div class='shortcode-toggle-head'><i class=\"fa fa-plus\"><\/i>Training<\/div><div class='shortcode-toggle-box hide'><\/br><strong>All judges must complete the assigned &#8220;Judge 25\/26&#8221; training in their <a href=\"https:\/\/my.firstinspires.org\/Dashboard\/\">FIRST Dashboard<\/a><\/strong> <\/br><\/br>You will be automatically enrolled into the training upon application or assignment into the judge role at an event.
