This entails completing FIRST HQ and FIRST in Michigan participant registration requirements.<\/p>\n<p>There are two different Consent\/Release forms required:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>FIRST HQ Consent\/Release form<\/strong> is filled out via the participant&#8217;s FIRST Account accessed through https:\/\/www.firstinspires.org\/ (top right &#8220;Register \/ Login&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">ADDITIONALLY:<\/span> FIRST in Michigan Consent\/Release form<\/strong> which can now be filled out electronically through Smart Waiver. For questions on the rollout of a specific remote event, please email the event&#8217;s Event Coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>Teams can connect to the help desk through <a href=\"https:\/\/fim.freshdesk.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/fim.freshdesk.com\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Through this platform, teams can open topic-based &#8220;tickets&#8221; to pose questions or requests for information. Responses will come from FiM FTC key volunteers for the given topic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Additionally, as part of our FiM FTC Fair Play rollout, teams can request a virtual inspection via the help desk as well. With the Remote Event rollout, we will be relying heavily on the teams to faithfully represent their participation by honestly and accurately inspecting their robots and refereeing\/scoring their matches.<\/p>\n<p>Example of Fair Play in action: A team participating in a given remote event designates a match as \u201cofficial\u201d BEFORE the match begins and follows through with scoring\/uploading that match\u2019s result regardless of the match outcome (i.e. if the robot malfunctions).<\/p>\n<p>Following the \u201cfair play\u201d expectations will more closely represent traditional match conditions and provide an even competition setting for all teams in the event. The philosophy of Fair Play is a natural extension of the FIRST ethos of Gracious Professionalism and the FIRST Core Values.<\/p>\n<p>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/firstinmichigan.us\/FTC\/FTC-Fair-Play\/\">FiM FTC Fair Play<\/a> site page for more information on how to take the &#8220;Fair Play&#8221; pledge and receive a digital &#8220;Fair Play&#8221; badge. Also, check out the content shared by our Fair Play teams!<\/p>\n<h5><strong style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 1em;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"> Virtual Robot Inspection<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>A remote event competing team can request a virtual robot inspection as part of our FiM FTC Fair Play rollout.<\/p>\n<p>How to request a Virtual Inspection.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead Coach\/Mentor 1 or 2 should create a ticket on the FIM FTC Help Desk.\n<ul>\n<li>Also, via the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSe996-KN9aSlomhEYtpYXRVbxU9LyPpIDc3epQgCGYt6qfvgQ\/viewform?usp=sf_link\">FiM FTC Fair Play<\/a> form, choose &#8220;yes&#8221; for the Virtual Inspection prompt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>When creating your helpdesk ticket,\n<ul>\n<li>Indicate two (preferably three) dates and times when your team is available for a virtual inspection (e.g., Tuesday @ 6pm). Note that evenings and weekends are easier for the Inspectors to accommodate, but let us know what works for your team and we will do our best to accommodate your schedule.<\/li>\n<li>Indicate your preferred way to virtually connect:\n<ul>\n<li>The team can host the virtual inspection and invite the Inspector: Be prepared to provide a video conference or collaboration link (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Or, an FTC Inspector can host the virtual inspection and will handle creating the video conferencing link and sharing it with the Lead Coach\/Mentor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>At the arranged inspection date\/time, the team and inspector will join the video conference.\n<ul>\n<li>Please be sure to have the robot with at least one student team member. Given the virtual nature of the inspection, this is a great opportunity for all students on the team to participate in the inspection.<\/li>\n<li>Equipment to have on hand: a tape measure or yardstick for measuring the starting configuration. A prequel to the start of our official competition season is a scrimmage that wraps up Saturday, 3\/6 with judging. Then we roll right into 10 straight weeks of qualifiers. Participation in a sanctioned FIRST in Michigan FTC engagement option in the 2020-21 season is a requirement of teams that have received sponsored grants such as the MDE state grant. The event name has been changed from FiM FTC Remote Qualifier to Kentwood FTC Remote Qualifier<\/p>\n<p>Welcome to the May 9-15\u00a0 FTC Qualifier! This event will soon be posted. This addition will help ease the overflow from the 2nd\/3rd round event sign up and provide the opportunity to play for teams that just received the happy news that they may meet and build. Thank you to the event host, FRC 5436 for making this possible!<\/p>\n<h6><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Role Training<\/span><\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>Under the remote role rollout, team mentors\/coaches prepare for and fulfill key roles in support of team matchplay. Training materials and certification tests are available to assist those filling the roles of inspector, referee, scorekeeping. To access these training materials, a \u201cFiM Volunteer Sign Up Event\u201d has been created. Through that event, a team mentor\/coach can volunteer for the role(s) they would like to fill in support of the team. They will then be able to access role specific training information and certification tests.
