2020-21 FTC TEAM ENGAGEMENT OPTIONS<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

It is NOT TOO LATE<\/strong> to get your middle school FTC team going this season!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0FIRST<\/em> in Michigan FTC season timeline has been expanded with official events beginning in January and extending out as needed. In addition, a smorgasbord of engagement options is available to teams.<\/p>\n

Participation in any\u00a0ONE OF THE FOUR<\/strong>\u00a0FIRST<\/em> in Michigan FTC sanctioned engagement options below meets the competition criteria for grants. Teams can participate in more than one option. The FTC team must be registered for the 2020-21 FIRST season to participate in these options.<\/p>\n

OPTION 1: REMOTE COMPETITION
\n<\/strong>Participate in\u00a0FTC\u00a0ULTIMATE GOAL<\/a>\u00a0(remote version)<\/p>\n

OPTION 2: VIRTUAL COMPETITION
\n<\/strong>Participate in the new 100% virtual FIRST<\/i>\u00a0Innovation Challenge<\/a>\u00a0presented by Qualcommn (FTC rollout).<\/p>\n

OPTION 3: FTC\/FRC IN ALLIANCE – Remote or Virtual
\n<\/strong>FTC team participates in one of the\u00a0sanctioned FRC engagement options\u00a0<\/a>IN ALLIANCE<\/b>\u00a0with an affiliated FRC team.<\/p>\n

OPTION 4: IN PERSON COMPETITION
\n<\/strong>Participate in FTC ULTIMATE GOAL (traditional version); this option is currently on hold.<\/p>\n

It is recommended that teams work towards participating in a remote FTC competition but consider adding an additional engagement option as back up or as a way to engage more team members if physical build is limited.<\/p>\n

In a year when so much has been taken away, let’s work together to keep our FTC students involved and moving forward. A gap year leaves a hole that is hard to fill. Our 8th graders deserve their leadership year. Our 7th\/6th graders need to continue to acquire and hone their skills so that they can evolve and grow as leaders and innovators. Students need the inspiration and guidance of their coaches and mentors now more than ever. If your team is struggling to start, reach out and we’ll work a plan.<\/p>\n

2020-21 MDE FIRST Robotics State Grant<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

The MDE FIRST Robotics state grant is open and accepting applications! There is funding for both public and non-public school affiliated teams. The grant will close on December 11 at 11:59pm<\/strong>. Visit the linked MDE State Grant Step-by-Step Guide<\/a> for details on the application process. <\/span>Teams MUST<\/strong> be registered with FIRST for the 2020-21 season in order to be eligible for the grant.<\/span><\/p>\n

NOTE!<\/strong> On the MDE MEGS+ grant system, the grant title is now 99h.<\/p>\n
