3.15.24 – Rookie All-Star Award and States

This note is going out to all rookies so that everyone has clarification on what happens if you win the Rookie All-Star Award. (Some of you may already be finished playing both your events.)
ROOKIE ALL-STAR AWARD WINNERS
Any team that wins the Rookie All-Star Award at a district event is eligible to come to States, FREE OF CHARGE, to interview for the Rookie All Star Award at the State Level. Winning the Rookie All Star Award at a District Event does not qualify your team for a robot spot at the State Championship.
Teams coming to interview for the Rookie All Star Award should expect to get an interview time on Friday (changed from Thursday.) The Judge will email you on the Wed before the State Championship to tell you your interview time.
Two rookie teams will win the Rookie All-Star Award at States. Both winners will automatically qualify for a spot WITH THEIR ROBOT at the Championship in Houston where the registration is $5,750
EARNING A ROBOT SPOT AT STATES
Teams earn a robot spot at States based solely on their ranking which comes from the points earned at their two events. The point cutoff is usually in the 60’s.
We run 4 fields of 40 teams each at states (160 teams total) with only the Impact Award winners earning an automatic spot with their robot.  The teams qualifying for States will be notified Saturday night (or early Easter Sunday) following the close of our last district event.  The state championship registration fee is $4,000. If you think you will qualify looking at your points, work with your district now to get the money set. The turnaround time is insanely short. There won’t be time to get a PO.
I hope you all are having a blast this season and that our Step-by- Step Kitbot videos were useful. Let me know if you need anything or have any questions.
